Atlanta Adventure

April 4th – 7th, 2013

We are so grateful that Race has worked his butt off in basketball so that we could even make the trip to Atlanta, GA!

DAY ONE
We set out of St. George at 4 am for the Vegas Airport. We were scattered on different flights, but all arrived in GA safely. We were lucky to have the Jorgensen family with us!

Our first event was the College Three Point and Slam Dunk Championship. It was unbelievable and we had so much fun.

Love having sister Macie around to keep my dear husband entertained ;) You wouldn't think he'd need it at an event like this......

Love time as a family - especially if it involves BASKETBALL!!!
Macie and I with the winner of the College Slam Dunk contest "Dunkin' Doug Anderson".

DAY TWO
Race was asked to participate in a Facebook voting competition for the chance to be entered into the National High School Three Point Championship. With much help from Facebook friends, he won all four rounds to land him in Atlanta.

He competed in a small high school gym, filled with tons of screaming kids and cameras everywhere. He absolutely killed it in warm-ups, but when the cameras got right up in his face the pressure was on. We were so proud of him and even being at this competition proves he is one of the best shooters around.
As you can see, he shot against THE BEST in the good ol' USA haha

We were so excited and had so much fun cheering him on!

(don't mind my special hubby haha)

The Jorgensen's are such an amazing family and we hope they'll be around for the long haul ;)

ATLANTA BRAVES GAME
Take Me Out to the Ball Game!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DAY THREE
We got to go to the Georgia Aquarium and it was one of MY favorite parts of the trip.
 -the walkthru tank - AMAZING!
-blacktip shark

-Jackson being like the grump fish
- a HUGE whale shark
- a GIANT mantaray

Next up was Bracket Town! Jackson won himself a nice Final Four authentic backpack by breaking the weekend record on a mini hoop competition. Next he broke the record for the vertical jump haha - his competition was young children, however haha.

FINAL FOUR TIME!!!
It was a ONCE IN A LIFETIME opportunity for sure. We had remarkable seats - thanks to the Jorgensen's.
Me and the hubby had a blast!! All decked out in FinalFour gear! :)

We were loving how legit our tickets were!

DAY FOUR
We traveled home, waking at 2 am, and arrived in Vegas Sunday afternoon.
Overall, the trip was a blast and we had so much fun. We were wishing like crazy we could stay for the Championship, but the Final Four was an indescribable experience.

I Can't Believe It's Over

March 2013

I cannot believe how fast Jackson's senior season went. Before I knew it, it was his Senior Night. I thought I would have been very emotional, but it was a night to celebrate his successful career here at SUU.

-with Coach Nick and Jackson's parents

The team didn't finish as strongly as we were hoping, but this last year has been one of the best.

Jackson was rewarded the MVP by team vote. He also received Second Team All-Big Sky Conference. He finished his basketball career at SUU with 1,273 points (5th on SUU All-Time Scoring List), 8th in rebounding with 502 boards, 35th in the Nation in Free Throw Percentage at 86.7%, he led the Big Sky Conference in scoring multiple times, led the team in scoring, rebounding and in FT% with 17.6 PPG and 6.1 RPG. He is one of the most humble people I know, with no reasons to be humble. I look up to him so much and couldn't be more proud of him.

Many people have asked us what is next. As of right now, he would like to play professionally overseas. If the perfect opportunity presents itself, then it will be something we pursue, but if not, we plan to HOPEFULLY find jobs wherever we can and start a family :) We will keep you updated!!

Jackson's 1,000 Career Points

WOW Jackson's last season has just flown by. With all the ups and downs of the season thus far, he was able to accomplish something pretty incredible...over 1000 career points. He did not play much as a Freshman here at SUU, and was only able to play half of his Sophomore season. Needless to say, he has made his way into the SUU record books for scoring & rebounding in basically just two and a half years. I am one proud wifey :) Below is a video of him scoring his ONE-THOUSANDTH point!

It was kind of a bummer that he hit the mark on the road, but we were able to celebrate his accomplishment at home :)

"Jackson Stevenett is in position to become only the third T-Bird to rank in the career top-10 in both scoring and rebounding." - SUU Media Relations

He currently has scored 1,118 points and has rebounded the ball 441 times. He is 11 boards away from entering the top 10 in rebounding at SUU as well. He is 8th in career scoring so far!

Our fun little married ward also showed their support to Jacks at the next home game, following his 1,000 career point shot. Someone is quite the artist :)

Well enough bragging; he'd kill me for this, if he ever got on our blog. But I figure it's something that we can have and keep forever and is almost like a journal for us...so more to come! :)

*Christmas 2012*

Christmas came so quick but went even quicker. Jackson got 3 1/2 days off from basketball for Christmas break. On the 21st I flew out to Denver to watch Jacks. We both flew into Vegas on the 22nd and from there headed to Kaysville. We were able to have a nice dinner with Jackson's dad and all of the kids. We spent a couple short days with Jackson's mom and family in Kaysville before we headed to Monroe on Christmas Eve. We were lucky enough to make it before the big storm hit.
We had a blast delivering gifts that we had purchased and wrapped for a less-fortunate young girl. It sure brought the true Christmas spirit into our lives and our family lives - we had a blast spoiling her.

Christmas day went too quick. Jackson got some binoculars - the new hunting hobby will be the death of me!
He wouldn't put them down - he watched tv with them and even begged me to let him shower with them because they are "waterproof" haha!
I got some nice luggage to help me follow Jacks around the country with ball :) We headed back to Cedar City the day after Christmas so that he could get to ball practice. Then I spent the next week very lazy but did prepare for my student teaching.
Right before school started I headed to Flagstaff, AZ to watch Jackson play NAU.

They played great and came away with a win.

We spent new years in Cedar City. Jackson had practice and work so we got together with a group of friends and had a blast right before the new year:)

(: New Years Kiss :)

Ever since then it has been crazy hectic busy and going by so fast!!

World Vision Classic Tourney

Jodi, me and mom and dad set off Friday morning for Reno, NV.
The boys had three games in the tournament. The team is still adjusting and learning; they are definitely getting better. Jacks played hard, his shots didn't fall as easily as normal but he made up for it with rebounding and on the defensive end.
Us four had fun in Reno, especially wearing these rediculous hats that my dad won for us. It definitely cheered Jacks up after a rough loss.
The team bounced back and played Nevada super close. We led most of the game, until we started getting into foul trouble.
With just a couple minutes in the game, jacks collided with another player and his shoulder came out for a few seconds. Luckily it popped back in quickly, but he is super sore and we're hoping he'll be ready for the first home game before Thanksgiving!

Trip to Washington/Idaho

SUU at Gonzaga!

The team took on the Zags Friday night and a few of us got to watch Jacks score a  career-high 29 points.

Unfortunately the Bulldogs beat us by quite a few, but we enjoyed the trip and had a lot of fun, even if Jacks didn't haha. Jackson's grandparents drove up to Spokane, Jodi and I flew.

Jodi, Jacks & Jade
So proud of him!

We also got to go to the UCLA vs Washington State game in Pullman. It was absolutely FREEZING!! We bailed at halftime because it was a blowout and we were frozen.

We stayed in Moscow, Idaho with Jackson's aunt Keli, uncle Brandon and cute cousins Madi and Mason.
It was such a fun trip, besides the beating by Gonzaga and our 7 hour layover in Spokane. Jodi and I thought we would never get home.

Can't wait for Reno this weekend!!!
